Industry Experts & Lawyers to Guide You
Having a Federal Firearms License can be the ticket to your dream job in the firearms industry—but you will need to navigate a complicated statutory and regulatory landscape to stay in Uncle Sam’s good graces. That’s where our firearms attorneys and compliance experts come in. FFL Class offers compliance training on the most up-to-date practices that FFLs need to know and understand. Our classes are one-day, 8 hour classes taught by industry experts and attorneys, and designed as a training update for current FFL holders. In the same way that attorneys are required to complete continued legal education every year in order to stay up to date on legal changes, FFLs must be aware of legal changes and the shifting priority and scrutiny of the ATF under the Biden administration. FFL class offers an intensive and affordable way to ensure your compliance officers know what to look for, and how to avoid criminal and civil repercussions for themselves and their entire staff..

In order to comply with the law, you need to know the law. FFL Class training sessions will cover (and refresh) topics that are vitally important for ATF compliance, including:
1) ATF Form 4473: Proper filling and meticulous maintenance of Firearms Transaction Records are paramount to avoiding adverse action from the ATF. Compliance violations relating to recordkeeping requirements are among the most common ways of jeopardizing your FFL—but they are also some of the most easily-avoided.
2) State-specific forms: In addition to federal forms, FFLs must be well-versed with the various statutory requirements and state police forms of the states in which they do business. Violations of state-specific requirements can impose serious state-level criminal penalties! For example, both Pennsylvania and Virginia enumerate misdemeanor and felony offenses for licensed dealers who violate state law under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6111 and Va. Code § 18.2-308.2:2, respectively.
3) A&D books: Under 27 C.F.R. § 478.125(e), licensed dealers are required to maintain Acquisition and Disposition records for all firearms that go through their doors. As an FFL, you must record entries in your A&D book completely, accurately, and in a timely manner. FFL Class will go over all the relevant recordkeeping requirements so that you won’t have to sweat your next compliance inspection.
4) National Firearms Act: The NFA provides for strict regulation of certain categories of firearms. Upon payment of the appropriate Special Occupational Tax (SOT), and with appropriate licensure, FFLs may expand their business to include the importation, manufacture, or dealership of NFA items, including popular products like suppressors. Because of the additional regulatory complexities involved, FFL Class will provide the specialized guidance you need in navigating the various ATF forms and requirements for NFA items.
5) Gun Control Act: The GCA laid the groundwork for much of the regulatory landscape governing FFLs today. Willful violation of any of its provisions or implementing regulations will result in the revocation of your FFL—something we want to avoid just as much as you do.
6) Inspection strategies: Whether you are new to the business or a seasoned licensee, we will work with you to identify compliance risks and help you resolve them before they become a problem. Our optional offerings include mock compliance inspections with members of our experienced team of ATF compliance experts.
No, trainings are designed to provide value for anyone who works at, or plans to become an FFL.
Your business is your livelihood. So it is critical that you understand what errors commonly cost FFLs their licenses. Understanding the requirements imposed on FFLs is even more essential when there is a possibility of criminal prosecution. This class provides a unique opportunity to interface both with former ATF agents, as well as with attorneys who can help guide you through your compliance journey.
